What's AI Freeze and How do I Beat It?

The Short Answer: AI Freeze is real, it's human, and it's showing up in ways most people aren't recognizing yet. If you've felt stress mounting as you watch the news or wonder how AI is going to change life as you know it, you're not alone. In this article, we'll talk about AI Freeze, how it shows up, and how to move through it.

You've probably noticed it.
Someone on your team who used to be sharp and engaged is suddenly short-tempered. Another one is cracking jokes every time AI comes up in a meeting. Someone else looks totally fine on the outside, but you can feel the tension underneath.
Economy concerns. Layoffs still happening daily. An unknown, uncertain future.
Nobody knows what to call it, but everyone feels it.
I call it AI Freeze.
What Is AI Freeze?
It's the paralysis that sets in when the world is changing faster than we can process it. When the fear of the unknown starts running the show. When the lizard brain takes over and survival mode kicks in.
But here's what most people miss: AI Freeze doesn't look the same for everyone.
We don't all respond to fear the same way.
What's You AI Freeze Style?
So how do you know what AI Freeze looks like? A personality test might not be able to tell you what it looks like. But archetypes can.
I'm a Certified Archetypal Consultant. It's not a title most people have heard of (I'm one of only three in the state of Utah), but it's one of the most powerful tools I use with my styling clients and in my Archetype Advantage™ workshops.
It's also a tool I use with personal styling.
In the styling world, they'll tell you to create a character for your client and dress them for it.
To me? That's a costume party.
I do something different.
I help my clients identify the archetypes that make up their core personality. The ones that drive how they show up at work, in relationships, and in life. Then we use clothing as an intentional tool to set the tone, step into their power, and Succeed with Style™.
And part of moving through fear and turning it back into productivity is to recognize how it shows up for you.
So what's your Freeze Style?
Mr. Freeze: You're more angry, frustrated, or controlling than normal. (Trying to distract from it by trying to control it.)
The Cold Shoulder: You're more snippy, short, or distant than normal. (Trying to cope by keeping people out so no one sees what's really going on.)
Ice Baby (no shade or 80s fade): More busy or funny than normal. (Lots of activity to distract you without a lot of productivity.)
Brain Freeze: You get overwhelmed by information or feel decision paralysis. (You don't shift quickly and need time to process, so fast-paced change feels like overload.)
Freezer Tag: You make jokes about AI taking over the world or sending AI memes to your friends. (You distract by making it a game and rolling with it.)
Flagpole Freeze: You feel more clingy or dependent on others for comfort. (Creating safety by feeling strength in numbers.)
The Freezer Pop: You might be flying under the radar. (You look cool and collected on the outside, but stress is melting you on the inside.)
The Built-In Ice Maker: Stress is slowing you down and burning you out. (You're running on autopilot while AI Freeze clogs the gears, slows you down, and you feel like you're starting to leak.)
Deep Freeze: You talk about the economy, AI fears, and the latest companies doing layoffs. (You feel panicked and frozen because of the uncertainty.)
You're in the Fro-zone: You aren't ignoring the fact that the world is changing, but you aren't focusing on doomsday either. You see the situation for what it is and are ready to leverage it as a new superpower.
So What Do I Do About AI Freeze?
All of these are survival responses. It's the lizard brain doing what it was designed to do: protect you from a threat it doesn't fully understand yet.
The problem is that survival mode and productivity don't coexist well. Most people are watching this phenomenon without a name for it, without a plan for it, and without any idea how to move through it.
Your Freeze Style isn't a weakness. It's information. And once you know what it is, you can do something about it.
It's what I call the B.A.D. A.™ Formula.
How Was the B.A.D. A.™ Formula Developed?
I didn't develop the B.A.D. A.™ Formula in a conference room.
I developed it in my living room, the year I lost my marriage, my health, and my career, all in the same year. .
I've been scared that divorce would break my family.
Scared I was an inadequate parent for kids struggling with trauma and real health challenges.
Scared I might lose my life.
Crisis. Chaos. Disruption.
That's been my norm since 2016.
Medical science says I should be in a wheelchair. Mental health professionals say I should have had a breakdown before now.
But this momma ain't got time for that.
Life is too short to freeze. Too short to stay stuck. Too short not to give it everything you've got.
The Bottom Line:
What I learned navigating my own version of the unknown is what I now bring into every workshop, every keynote, and every coaching engagement.
The B.A.D. A.™ Formula isn't theory. It's the real thing. Tested in real life, under real pressure, when the stakes were as high as they get.
If your team is frozen, or if you are, there's a way through.
AI Freeze is real. It's human. And it doesn't have to be permanent.
You need to know yourself: how you respond and show up for life. You've got to know your brand and own your style.
Once you do you look at what is instead of telling yourself stories about what could be. Make real-time decisions based on facts rather than fiction.
And, as per the norm in our house, learn to practice the art of the pivot.
Check your reality. Decide. Adapt.
That's the heart of being a B.A.D. A™. And I can tell you from experience. It works. We will get through this.
The fear will thaw.
And when it does, we'll rise stronger than we were before.
You've got this!
